Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 16, 2026
Codex Skin Maker provides a browser-based skin design tool and educational guides at codexskinmaker.com. This policy explains what happens to your artwork, exported skin recipe, ordinary website usage data, and messages you send us.
The short version
The core builder is designed to process your selected artwork locally in your browser. The site does not need to upload that artwork to our server to crop it, preview it, convert it to WebP, render a PNG preview, calculate SHA-256 checksums, or build the downloadable ZIP recipe.
Local artwork processing
When you choose a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF file, the browser may create a temporary object URL and decode the image in memory. Canvas and Web Crypto browser APIs are then used to render and package the recipe. The generated files are downloaded directly to your device.
We do not intentionally receive or store:
- the image selected in the builder;
- the locally rendered background or preview;
- color values, crop settings, skin names, or exported checksums;
- the resulting
.dreamskin.zipfile.
Closing or refreshing the page normally releases the temporary browser data. Your browser, extensions, operating system, download manager, or device backup software may keep their own local records outside our control.
Data-only export
The exported recipe contains images, JSON, text, and checksum files. It does not contain executable code, API keys, model-provider settings, authentication data, or an automatic installer. You decide where the download is stored and whether it is later opened by third-party software.
Website analytics and technical logs
We may use privacy-oriented or standard website analytics when configured to understand aggregate page views, referrers, countries, device classes, and browser performance. Hosting and security providers may also process ordinary request information such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp, and error or abuse signals.
Analytics are separate from the builder pipeline. We do not configure the builder to attach your selected artwork to analytics events. Browser privacy controls, content blockers, and applicable consent settings may limit analytics.
Cookies and local storage
The core builder does not require an account. The site may use essential storage for language, appearance, security, or consent preferences, and analytics providers may use cookies or similar technologies depending on configuration and region. We do not use browser storage as a hidden upload channel for your artwork.
Contact messages
If you email [email protected], we receive the address, message, attachments, and metadata supplied by your email service. Please do not send API keys, authentication files, confidential artwork, or private Codex screenshots. We keep support messages only as long as reasonably needed to answer, document corrections, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.
Third-party links and local software
The site links to GitHub, the open-source Codex Dream Skin project, OpenAI resources, and other external pages. Those services have their own privacy practices.
Codex Skin Maker does not install or operate the local Dream Skin engine. If you download or run third-party scripts, that software may access a local Chromium DevTools Protocol session or other resources on your computer. Review its current source, permissions, documentation, and restore procedure before use.
Advertising and affiliate disclosure
The site may display advertising or use clearly disclosed affiliate links in the future. Advertising partners may process identifiers or usage data according to their own policies and applicable consent requirements. Sponsored or affiliate relationships do not change our editorial requirement to describe platform limits, risks, and restore steps.
Data security and retention
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards for the website and the limited data we receive. No internet service can promise absolute security. Server logs are retained according to hosting, security, operational, and legal needs; support correspondence is retained only while it remains useful or required.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information we control. You may also be entitled to complain to a data protection authority. Contact us with a specific request; we may need to verify that you are the person concerned.
Children
The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the builder.
Changes
We may update this policy when the builder, hosting, analytics, advertising, or applicable law changes. The effective date at the top identifies the latest published version.
